Hello all. Brand new (5 minutes ago) to the site. Looking forward to learning from you all and saving my animals from my ignorance/stupidity. haha
Please forgive me if this topic is elsewhere, I looked some and didn’t see it.I am building a single neck yoke for an 18 month old jersey bull we adopted. His neck measured 4.5 inches wide with a big set of calipers I have. I see plenty of plans on line and info on how to ensure there is a good fit but nothing yet to say “if the neck measures X then make/get this size neck bow”
I have seen a number of sites that say for a small yoke you should be able to get your finger tips in beside the bow. So do I make a 5 inch wide bow? I know I will be making many more yokes and bows for this guy and look forward to it. I just want to make sure the first one I make fits well and doesn’t turn him off to working.
Thanks. Once I get the little ox going it will be time to learn how to work my mules!!! Yeehaw
