Started making hay again this week after waiting for the rain to stop. baled about 300 bales on June 12, and then waited until this week. All the rain made for lush, over ripe mowing and full windrows. Mowed about 5 acres on Monday. it rained a little on tuesday. I didn’t expect the hay to dry but wed. was a perfect hay making day. This hay wouldn’t have begun to dry like this with out the haybine. Started tedding about 10 am. to shake out the rain from the day before. Raked it from 2 pm to 4pm, and started baleing around 5pm. Made three wagon loads but only picked up about half the hay. Great yield from five acres of pasture grass. Even with all the hard work half the hay is getting rained on at 8am this morning. That is ok. You have to start getting the fields cleared so you can grow second cutting. This hay will be raked up for bedding if it continues to rain today. Mow more tomorrow.
