    Was looking over the path and obstacles the horses would need to traverse to the new woodlot we will be cutting firewood from this fall and was wondering about a place to tie them while cutting… Is it Ok to tie the neck yoke to a tree or is it better to tie the cart/wagon to a tree? Another question, if you can tie to the neck yoke isn’t that preferable to tying to the horses halter.

    No, most definatly not, you tie them by the halter when they are hooked or not, they can back all most as big a load as they can pull so anything you tie to can be pulled over while they back or pull ahead, if there halter broke they are very safe tied by the halter and if they are not then it dont matter what you tie to it wont be safe.
