Have had a team of haflingers for about 8 months and they have developed a habbit of bobbing their heads when I drive them… They came from the Amish and wanted to fast trott as soon as harnessed and I have been holding them back more and more to get them to settle down and walk. They didn’t bob their heads when I first drove them but one started about a month ago and now both do it. Suggestions?

Are they getting hard to hold when you are driving them?

They are always a little hard to hold because they want to do fast trott unless you hold them back. This Sat I plan on using them all day hauling wood so maybe they will knock it off after they get tired.

Try a leverage bit. But be careful, they will feel the pressure more with that bit than with a regular O-ring snaffle. Save your arms, keeps your cool and doesn’t hurt the horses. Great training aid.
