Hi I’m OldKat. That name comes from a board I use to post on where everyone had a screen name. My real name is Stephen Rogers. You can call me by either; like the old saying goes “just don’t call me late for dinner” 😉 I found this site awhile back while surfing for a video a friend told me about. The video turned out to be one of Neil Dimmocks impressive hitches. When I Googled his name I ended up here. Interesting stuff so far.
So I guess I’m here because of Neil, whom I’ve never even met!Anyway, I was an Ag Education major in college … worked for the Progressive Farmer / Southern Living Corp in West Texas & New Mexico for awhile before teaching high school agriculture for 2 years. Looking for an easier way to go broke, I went into the energy industry some 27 years ago.
I’m an analyst, which means I analyze things. 😀 Currently I analyze in real time the operations of one of the major natural gas pipelines that delivers gas into New York City and the mid-Atlantic east Coast corridor.
Live about an hours drive west of Houston, Texas. I lease land in my area for my cow/calf operation, though no where near the scale that I did at one time. I am trying to develop a line of Red Angus bulls that I can use on heat tolerant females to produce a terminal cross calf that will finish on grass. A long term project for sure.
Have a young team of Percheron mares that I plan to work into my operation. I “may” at some point be able to use some larger hitches, maybe 4 or 6 head. Don’t think I’ll ever rival Neil though! 🙂
I enjoy reading the interesting things that people post on this site.
