I just returned from the MOFGA LIF weekend in Unity Maine. It was a bit wet from rain, but was well attended by an excellent group of enthusiastic outdoors-persons.
I was very pleased to be involved in an event which caters to many levels of experience, offering mentoring and training for teamsters and woods-workers, and encourages discussion about, and examples of, serious alternatives to the current mainstream approach to forestry practices.
Hats off to the entire LIF crew.

Glad you could be there with them man. That is a great event that some of our fellows have been to before, I would love to make it up there someday.
Did you take any digital photographs? If so please post them for us travel challenged folks on the DAP board.

Your talk on Friday night will help those of us who work and are committed to work in the woods in a correct manner frame some of the issues we deal with. You work in the stables and with the various teams (real good for me that you spent time with Jason and his Brabants as I need him to help me and Rusty get some jobs done) was extremely helpful to all those to hung on your words.
Again Carl we are indebted to you. And, what goes around will surely come around.

The highlight for me was working with cattle for the first time. I had a great time spending a good portion of the day following Jim Hawkes and his team of yearling steers around the woods and fairgrounds. What a well trained team, later I found out that it was their first time working in the woods too. A big thanks to all that planned and attended this event, and to Patti who did an excellent job feeding us.
I hope that I can make it back next year.Erika

Would have like to have seen Jason and his Brabants. (miss them). The thing I think impressed me the most when I went was having 50-60 people, some of which had never been near a horse, and not one attitude. Everyone seemed to get along great. It’s awesome to see someone that has never been around animals twitching wood out for the first time. I think a person could go every year and always learn something new. I look forward to my kids being big enough for me to take them.
