Hi, I’m asking for a bit of advice concerning our new chikens (they arrived in november). We have ten ‘nude necked’ hens which arrived with five cock birds of the same race. I’ve culled two and left three, with differing tail colours, to choose from for breeding. This is the first time we’ve had males of the same race as the females, so the first time we’ve thought about breeding them. The time has come to decide which to keep as the cocks have begun to display. The most goodlooking bird is definitely the most dominent; however he is also aggressive with the hens, so i’m wondering if i’d do better to keep one of the more mild mannered cocks??? Any ideas? thanks A

Save the one that you like best, if you can keep two cockerels than it is a good idea to have a spare. If you can’t manage to keep two give your second favorite to a friend that would lend him back to you in case something happens to #1.
