hi all, I live in eastern Virginia, have been in the Navy for (ever) 17 years,
and own a small bandsaw mill…I just got a bit interested in draft logging
(and dragging other heavy schtuff..) mostly in oxen…as I believe there is very little in life prettier than black cows on green grass..

I don’t have alot of ambition to own or train a team anytime soon, but maybe when I retire from Unca Sam’s Kanoe Klub I will get to…

The idea of working my little gardens and moving what few logs I do without
listening to an engine appeals to me enormously…

The way the economy is going might have to….

Remember reading Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls as a kid? Almanzo training
Bright and Star remains one of my favorite chapters anywhere…

    Zopi,

You bring up a wonderful memory, I am sure that I remember more from Farmer Boy than any other book that I have ever read since. The details were great and really spurred me to want more than my rural residence had to offer me growing up. I have not been interested in cattle until this year, but when ever picturing a pair of calves in my care, I have always pictured Star and Bright.

Welcome and Thanks for jogging my memory,

    Erika
