Looking for a ox cart or plans to build one.
Thanks, AmyJanuary 20, 2009 at 6:23 pm #49352RodParticipantTry this site http://www.atnesa.org/challenges/challenges-joubert-cart.pdf . I am building one to this plan (modified somewhat) and will post photos when it’s complete.

The more I look at that cart the better I like it. I think if I were to build one like it I would adapt it so I could change the shafts for a pole to use a team.
I have all the stuff to build a New England type dump cart now if I can just find some get up and go.January 20, 2009 at 9:27 pm #49353RodParticipantHi Howie
You read my mind on that one. The way I set the cart up is pretty much the same as the drawing except for the shafts. Instead I am welding in two 2″ recievers one at the axel level and the other 6″ above it. These will recieve either the removable pole or the shafts which I already have for my WH forecart. This will also allow the cart to be towed behind a tractor or forecart with a short connecting shaft from the lower reciever. In addition their will be two more recievers welded vertically at the front (up at 12 sideboard height) top of the cart to recieve the seat from the same forecart which just drops in.
The axel will be attached with shackle bolts so I can move it back and forth to balance the cart.
With the 12″ side boards on the capacity of this cart is 33 cf.
I have a plan I drew up if anybody wants one. I will have to mail it because it’s in Autocad format.January 21, 2009 at 1:13 am #49358amy40ParticipantThe New England type cart is more what I’m looking for if anyone has any info, that would be great. I can’t find any carts or specs anywhere besides pics. I’m looking for one with a pole for a team. Not sure of size requirements for different age steers. Does it matter? I know it needs to be balanced.
Thanks, AmyJanuary 21, 2009 at 5:11 am #49357Robert MoonShadowParticipantPardon my ignorance, but what is a “New England style cart”? Also, will it work for a single (standard) donkey? I’m thinking that a small dump cart that can be converted to a team would be nice & handy.
Rod – if you think this cart you’re building would (or could, with modifications) fit what I’m after, I’d be interested. But I have no idea what autocad is, nor if my poor little dialup system would handle it… can’t do videos, for certain.January 21, 2009 at 6:35 am #49354RodParticipantI think they have a Donkey cart design, read that article over, seems like they talked about using it or a similar one for Donkeys.
I will need your mailing address and I will send you a paper copy of the plans. You can e-mail it to me at rod@dayspringfarm.com
February 16, 2009 at 6:16 pm #49356VickiParticipantTillers is offering a cart building class this year. Hands on work through the process. No doubt you’d be exposed to various designs and applications and probably get plans. You can for additional cost even have them supply the materials for you to make and keep your own cart.
I have plans for a dump cart, pretty NE style. I have not made it, but one of our MODA board members did. Send me smail mail address and I can send them to you (if I can remeber where I filed them.)
January 30, 2012 at 2:36 am #49359WolfscoutParticipantI opened the cart link and liked what I saw. I wonder if in resurrecting this old thread… someone who posted they built it can tell us something about how it functions for them. What they’d do differently etc. Thanks in advance. ~ Larry
