I have been trying to find a source for the axle bearings. Has anyone here found a source? Not having any luck so far. Thanks

    Hey Richard,

I have a McD #6 but many of the parts are the same. I assume you are looking for the roller bearings (looks like a cage w/ 3″ rollers) that go on each axle – my parts list has them ID’d as ‘main wheel roller bearing (2 1/16″ OD, 4 3/8″ long M631 end rings) ‘- don’t know what the M631 thing is but the bearing part # is M630. I had good luck w/ Balster’s Implement in Scotch Grove IA PH# (319) 465-4141. If you haven’t already, give them a call.

I went to the web site and went through the bearing section but didn’t find a match. I’ll call them to check. I’ve called everyone local with no luck. May have to go with bronze bushings as a replacement. Thanks

I would be surprised if B. W. Macknair (717-543-5136) didn’t have it. They have never let me down. Great folks to deal with. Donn

Try B.W. Macknair & Sons in Lewistown PA 717-543-5136. They are very likely to have any part you need for that mower. I have the same machine and have had good luck getting what I need there.

If you have an Amish settlement nearby they will have them. I was surprised at the amount of McCormick corn binder parts on my last trip to our local settlement. Some parts I thought I might have to go hedgerow hunting for he had brand new. They have a large selection of mower, grain binder, plow, and manure spreader parts. The Amish are responsible for making alot of these reproduction parts because they use them. Without them draft equipment would be scarce. The new production companies are mostly Amish owned, Pioneer, White Horse, and I believe I&J as well as many other smaller companies. Macknair is also a good source and they know their parts and equipment well.

Don’t just go by Balster’s website. They have 3 to 6 buildings full of parts. I got the cast drive gear for the #6 mower I have. You need to give them a call. I’m glad to hear McNAirs has a good supply as well. Not too many Amish places out here in Idaho.

Does anyone get SFJ magazine? Trying to track down a number of someone that makes bearings for these mowers. Thanks

    Richard – I get SFJ… who are you looking for? I see Balster’s, Mullet’s, Macknair’s, Heritage Machine Works {they say they rebuild/manufacture parts}, etc.

I have called Balsters, McNair, JD, Case IH and several bearing distributors no luck finding a source for bearings of this size. I was told someone advrertises in SFJ that makes something for replacement in these mowers. Not sure who I’m looking for. Need more numbers of places to call. Thanks

    Hi Richard

Ihave a parts book for the no.7 and it gives the main wheel roller bearings as follows.

    Left Cat. no. M22731
    right and center M22734

I could photo copy and send you this if you give me your mailing address. I got it from McNairs.
