Going threw a shed the other day and found a hand operated sickle sharpener (McCormick Deering) that mounts on the mower Wheel. I already have one and was wondering if anyone would be interested. Could put it on E-bay but would rather see it go to someone that could use it. Will post picture if I can figure out how.

I haven’t figured out how to post a photo in the body of the message yet either. Maybe you can put it in the regular photo section. I’d like to see it too.
We are restoring a couple of MC D mowers around here, mostly to clip pasture.
I have a sickle sharpener that you mount on a bench and sharpen the sections that way. I’ve never seen one you mount on the mower itself. I may not understand how it works. A high speed hand held grinder will eat up some sections for sure.February 28, 2009 at 1:55 pm #50361Does’ LeapParticipantDan:
I plan on mowing hay this summer and might be interested. What do you want for it?

I’ll take it if it’s still available.

Thanks, MarkMarch 2, 2009 at 3:16 pm #50360J-LParticipantMan I sure fell asleep on this one! You need to find some more of those. I’d love to have it too.
I don’t know about the replacement stones. I had an electric one at one time. The motor crapped on me but the stone is still good. Might be that it’d fit.March 2, 2009 at 9:22 pm #50363Donn HewesKeymasterI have one and it works well. One suggestion. mount it to something solid. As with anything hand cranked, the little vibration is all wasted effort. Mine is attached to a short piece of rail road iron that fits in it’s own little saw horse. never moves, all ways ready. I would bet you could find those stones. Donn
