Google: HR 45 see your gun rights going out the window, I’m a combat veteran, received a Purple Heart in Aug 2005. I’m a believer in the concealed weapon law and have followed the rules as they pertain to established law. I highly recommend that you look closely at this HR as it permits ILLEGAL SEARCH and SEIZURE without a warrant during” Business Hours”. This is straight up in your face !@#$%%^&&*.

March 3, 2009 at 3:25 am #50459J-LParticipantI’m afraid we’ve got a lot on our plate after the election. I hope we don’t lose a more of our rights.
March 3, 2009 at 3:25 pm #50462Y 4 RanchParticipantBret, I’m not sure what your thoughts are on the last post, I don’t understand.

Based on the posts I have seen, it seems to me that there is a decent mix of different political ideas. Or perhaps it is because the conservatives on the forum are outspoken compared to their numbers (and I don’t mean this in a bad way).
March 4, 2009 at 3:57 pm #50464Y 4 RanchParticipantI understand now, I’m new so haven’t had much interaction on the politcal side. I don’t believe that everyone needs a hug and a pat on the back I also believe in a hand up (help out when in a tough situation), not a hand out; regardless of color or creed. I definately don’t think we’re on the right track right now, regardless of who’s in power.
March 5, 2009 at 9:10 pm #50463Y 4 RanchParticipantI gotcha now! Thanks, I think we’re on the same page.
March 6, 2009 at 12:45 am #50461dominiquer60ModeratorY 4 Ranch- I am not a fan of guns, but I certainly believe that well educated gun owners (the type that have gone through the hops, courses and carry permits) should not be punished for the actions of the illegitimate gun owner type that live in the alley behind me. In the end guns don’t kill people, people kill people. I think people should be regulated, not guns:)

Once you have to fight for unalienable rights, you’ve got an uphill battle.

And
“Plainly spoken, there are a lot of Liberal Democrat types here. “Pardon me, Bret, but I find some serious flaws in your ‘judgement’. First of all, this is a very heterogenous group….by that (in case its too big a word)I mean we come from all different backgrounds and belief systems. It is, what I believe, what makes this forum interesting and compelling. Just because one does not step up and stand with you in your beliefs, does not mean there aren’t some amoung us who believe what you do…simply with more temperance.
I, for instance, though registered as an agnostic…no wait…an independant, consider myself rebublican. I don’t favor more government. I don’t favor more beauracracy. I did not vote for Barack Obama. But I have not given up HOPE that things will change. Hope is never a bad thing…for anyone…in any situation. In fact, it is hope that keeps people from tipping over the edge, I fear you are approaching.
Your prose is offensive in style, so it is no surprise that you are only seeing responses from those who oppose you outright. If you truly wanted to have a conversation, you would tone it down a tad, so those of us willing to agree…could.
I have no interest in discussing guns…it is a pathetic topic, IMHO. If you want to whine about regulations that protect people from getting shot accidentally, so beit, but don’t make it a topic of politics.

Nothing wrong with having a few curmudgeons around to rein in this “hope and change” crap.Having developed the site, I am catering to no one type, trying to include all, but I believe the only thoughts to have are progressive, no point in having a brain if you don’t work it, but that in no way means progressive politics. I am extremely conservative in that I believe that the social instincts that humans have trump any program, or policy that any artificial governing body can come up with, and I am extremely liberal in how I allow others to understand their own life experience and choose to participate. I can embrace all points of view, but only follow my own.
I really want to host a site that can cater to whatever discussions people want to have, but if folks can’t make their points without having to be picking apart, or blaming another for their own personal or perceived positions, I’m going to have to seriously rethink this. I know that there are people in the wings (several hundred, possibly) who are questioning whether they want to get into any discussion here for fear they will be subjected to this.
