Hello Everyone, 🙂
I am happy that I found my way here. I am married, mother of four, and one grand daughter.
I have quite the zoo. I have a problem saying “No“ to an animal in need. I was a member of a rescue group for several years. At present, I have a 4~yr old Belgian Gelding that I got when he was 2. I am training him myself. I look forward to meeting everyone here. Enjoy the day!Hugs,
Linda 🙂March 6, 2009 at 7:49 pm #50571Carl RussellModeratorWelcome Linda,

Thank you Dave for the nice welcome. Ummmm….is your wife`s name Linda too? LOL!
I know how the rescueing can get you in to trouble. At one point I felt like I had every animal known to mankind, just in case Noah showed up. 🙂People tend to call me for everything. ie,…reptiles, birds, dogs, cats and horses, etc,. I have to admit, I am getting better. I did see a nice Spotted Draft in need of a home. Telling myself….“No, I do not need another horse. I do not need another horse.“ Maybe your wife could help enable me in my decision? Do you dare introduce us to one another? 😉
Enjoy the day everyone.

Now, I’m the one responsible for keeping up a 10 acre property and many animals. I take care of the large ones – mules, donks, horse, cow, etc…. she and our son take care of the smaller ones. But, when something needs to be built, it’s usually me and her Dad. Hopefully, I don’t sound angry, I love every minute of it. Spent 4 or 5 hours on the tractor today mucking out stalls and re-grading the driveway. Only thing better than time on a tractor would have been using a horse or mule to do the work, but we’re not there yet!
Well Linda, welcome again… Just no encouraging Tracy!:D

Okay, I am writing this down. “Do not go to Craigslist, and I can not encourage Tracy.“ LOL!
You and my hubby Carl would get along just wonderfully. He builds because he knows they will come. LOL! I do alot of the cleaning and caring for the animals. Carl tells everyone that he is my stall boy. 🙂 The kids help as well.I would love to learn how to work our Belgian in the fields. Heck, I would be just as happy if I could find someone to help me get him under harness. All I have learned is mostly by talking to people, and reading books. I did apprentice for a while for a carriage service. I just didn`t get enough drive time in.
Have a good evening Dave. Please tell your wife that I said “Hello“ and that I am here. I just don`t know what we could ever have in common. (grin)

All that I have met have been open and willing to help. Check out their website. They have a wonderful place to hold meetings and do a lot of activities with their drafts.
Welcome to the board.

Hello Jean, nice to meet you. Thank you for the welcome. I live in the NW Corner of CT. I did join the Northwest Connecticut Draft Horse Association last year. I only attended one meeting. The people were very friendly. My only problem was, their meeting was on the same day as our son`s baseball games and or practices.
I never had enough time to leave the game, and get to the meetings. 🙁 I think I am going to rejoin and ask for some help. Thank you for the info on the Eastern CT Draft Horse Group.Have a good evening!

March 13, 2009 at 11:18 pm #50580AnonymousInactiveHello OldKat, 🙂
I am happy to hear that I could make you laugh. You are right. Sometimes all we have left is the humor. That, and a new notice of taxes due. This being a supplimental one. They didn`t bill us enough the first time around. LOL! Anyone interested in helping me dump some tea in the Boston Harbor? 😉
Have a good day.
Hugs,
Linda 🙂 - AuthorPosts
