From time to time, and frequently recently, there are threads that start out with a title associated with some particulars of the author’s original intent, but as others contribute, associated aspects are discussed that don’t appear obvious from the title.

I have the ability to edit thread titles, and was wondering about adding “– Including discussion about…..”, so that people looking for discussions about those topics would know to look there.

How do you feel about that?

I know it is important to try to preserve the original intent of the threads we post, but the reality of these undertakings is that we all see things that other’s may not, and rather than reprimanding people for “Stealing Threads”, I would like to be able to alert potential readers to the depth of the discussion within.

Just so you know, if you don’t feel like responding, I am leaning that way, and will probably just contact the original authors directly for permission.

I would appreciate it–it would be helpful when looking for information in old threads. I don’t think that it is a problem that threads sometimes wander off topic, but it can get confusing if the original title is not related to the discussion.

I think that is a great idea. I sometimes wander around looking at threads I don’t think I will be interested in to find there is information there that I would have missed because the thread went off topic.

So amazingly, I don’t read all the threads either, but most, so if anybody has some suggestions just PM me to give me the heads up to a particular thread.

    Thanx, Carl

Will do, Carl – and it’s an excellent idea.
