On the first Wednesday of May someone “removed” my equipment. This included my horse-drawn manure spreader, spring tooth harrow, metal evener, and misc. hand tools, chains, and carabiners. I re-seed abandoned well sites (oil, gas, or salt water disposals) and try to bring them back to a grazeable level. My home is in another county than were I’m currently concentrated and it is not feasable to haul it all home every night (I do quite a bit of camping to save on fuel as it is). I chain it all together and hide it in the brush. Also, this particular location was locked from the main road so it was a surprise that anyone would have just blundered onto the equipment.
Got a bit of a shock when I went out and it was all gone. SE New Mexico is not a draft animal power based community and to the best of my knowledge I’m the only one doing this sort of thing around here. People down here love their diesel engines to the point its almost heresy to toil under the labor of a horse. So I figured some junky took my stuff to sell as scrap metal. The thought of my means-of-production being crushed for scrap angered me day and night. So I used that energy to put out the word about my lost equipment. I paid money to put in photo ads in the local thrify-nickle, and city newspapers. Every feed store, ATV dealer, scrap yard, and auction house had a flier posted on their front door.
First day the photo ad ran I had the phone ringing off the wall. The equipment is located and I go to pick it up on Tuesday.
