I’m having trouble getting the hold-back straps and trace adjustment just right. I know its me, as I have trouble with both horses. The hold back straps just seem too short, despite being wrapped once and on the last hole. When driving, however the breeching seems to be in good position and only gets tight on the down hill. I could be alittle less snug on the level and uphill, but its not bothering either horse…yet. Do I have the traces adjusted wrong? Or maybe the harness is adjusted too long? Or do I need longer hold back straps? Do they come in sizes?
I’ll try to remember to take a photo next time I harness one of the boys. Its possible I’m just whining about nothing, but I end up swearing everytime I hook the hold back straps in.

I seem to never have quite the correct tension (what ever that is) with my hold backs and tugs. I was trained to keep things pretty snug especially on the arch where there is a good bit of weight being pulled. That said I keep the tugs as short as I can without Rusty hitting the shafts and get the hold backs as tight as I can. There usually seems to be a bit of slack but I’m guessing no more that 1 or 2 inches of play before they start to work.
Hope this is helpful.

But I think I have some guidelines to work out and I’ll post some photos when I do.
Thanks, Mark, for the offer of help, btw.
