This came through my Inbox today. I know nothing of the horse myself. Just what you read here:
“This mare needs a new home ASAP as owner is going to euthanize rather than feed her through the winter and grass is already almost gone. She is 13 years old, registered Belgian. She is broke to drive, her owner claims she doesn’t want to back into the shafts and thinks she would do better as part of a team and that she would make a good riding horse. (I of course think all drafts make fabulous riding horses!)
I have only seen her once and don’t recall anything remarkable about her in terms of size, she seemed like an average sized Belgian to me, probably around 17 hands. The owner will E-mail pictures upon request.
Time is of the essence. I told him I would take her rather than see her euthanized but I really don’t have room nor financial means to support a fourth horse. She is located in Midvale, Idaho (which is about 90 miles northwest of Boise and very close to Oregon). Contact E-mail is terry at ruralnetwork dot net. [grey here: phone number removed, I figure if you’re at this web site, you have email] The owner’s name is Terry Bonner.
I would be willing to haul this mare for free within a couple hour radius of Midvale. [Contact Pam Haynes directly at purplepassionmanager at yahoo dot com]
Please help me find this mare a home, there isn’t a thing wrong with her.”
