I picked up a copy of “Bringing it to the table” by Wendell Berry from one of the book sellers at the DAP field days. This is a great book, in the form of topical essays and stories, which touches on many of the subjects that we discuss and debate on this forum. It includes Berry’s typically clear thoughts and explanations relating to issues of agriculture and agribusiness, community, sufficiency, soil organics, culture, sustainability and much more. In one part the author describes, from his interviews, some examples of appropriate economic and sustainable practices on real farms and woodlots which are inspiring and encouraging. A good read for the serious “agriculturist/farmer” that you will want to share with like minded friends and wish you could with those who are otherwise.
