I tried using the search feature {boy howdy, but THAT will sure get you lost following so many interesting threads!} – and I couldn’t find any discussion on this.
I’ve seen single/team lines offered for sale at 15′, 20′ & 30′. The 15 footers were referred to as for minis…what’s the recommended length for lines? I’ve got 2 lg. standard donkeys that will be used as single & team, on a wagon, forecart, snigging firewood logs (about 4′ lengths, usually), various walk-behind implements; plow, cultivator, disc, etc.
I initially thought the longer length was just for driving 4-up, but have heard that the 30 is used on a team, as well…?
Without having the various equipment on hand, I can’t determine what’s the most logical length would be.

    Any suggestions?

I use 20′ for ground skidding with a single.

Mine are 20′ also which is kind of long for most of my driving, the slack gets in the way a lot. But the long lines are nice when I am behind the forecart hooking something up. I also have 10′ line extensions which buckle into the line ends for those times when I am loading the cart with wood etc and want to either keep them in my hand or easily accessable.

I use 20′ 3/4″ beta lines for ground skidding. I like the feel and handling of the 3/4 lines. Zimmerman’s Harness in PA (717.354.5667) sells them for $40 and will sell you one black and one brown (Jason Rutledge’s idea) so you know immediately which lines you have in your hand.
