Hi everybody. I have been reading this forum for a long time and have finally joined. I live on 30+/- acres in eastern VA that is kinda hilly. I have been wanting to get into agriculture for awhile now and think that draft animal may be the answer. I have raised catttle for 2 years and sheep for 5 years. I am currently in 4-h and found that in my area there is NO draft program of any kind! This would be a father-son project (my Dad being my finacial advisor:D) to come up with an effecient way to clear and someday farm our land.
On to requirements. We would like an animal that could pull rather large logs and do field work. They would need to cope with hills that can be easily climbed with a 2 wheel drive tractor if that is any indication. I am looking at both mules and oxen but I am still open for suggestions.November 21, 2009 at 7:39 pm #55459lancekParticipantWelcome Robenson,
