George. You might try monitoring CraigsList. I don’t regularly do so, but I have noticed a few postings on this site from time to time that reference that site as having equipment for sale.
Just this week one of the really considerate and helpful regular posters on DAP sent an email to me about a #9 for sale “relatively” near me (it was only about 250 miles away, which is kind of right next door in my state), but alas it was already sold. The guy who owned it thought it was probably in working order, but he had bought it for yard art so didn’t know for sure. Point is, it was listed on CraigsList and that is how the other person found it and gave me a heads up.

Here in PA it wouldn’t take much to find a nice mower for little. I’ve seen the no 9s lined up in mud sales auctioning off for way less then you would find one in uncle henrys up in maine. we have a nice publication called “Lancaster Farming” and the section B mailbox listings have led me to many fine deals from equipment to horses. what does one do when they live outside of this area. that i don’t know, but there are three places here in Pa that you may want to contact. Norman Macknair of B.W. Macknair 717 543 5136. this guy finds these mowers and rebuilds them for sale. excellent condition. well worth the price. next there is a man named Leon Brubaker an amish man whos address is Rd #1 box 693 Port Trevorton PA 17864. He is a dealer with relatively lower prices. and finally another amish man, Jonas Peachey at Peachey Mower Shop, 164 Hemlock Lane, Bellville, PA 17004. this guy specializes in mowers and he is whom i would contact if i where looking for a number 9. i don’t know if this will help much but one never knows. good luck
