Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have delusions about being a bringer of world peace or saver of children’s memories. But, while hauling people today I remembered why I do what I do. The look on their faces when they ask “Can I pet your horses?” and you reply, “Why sure, make sure your parents are with you.” Their eyes get all huge and sparkle and they walk all slow and cautious around the horses. Then my big baby girl lowers her head so they can scratch her nose. You’d think they died and gone to heaven! Just wanted to share a couple pictures of some memories these little kids will have for a long time…
She’s actually kissing Dottie’s nose.

This mare of mine has a serious soft spot for the little ones. She complains bitterly when I groom her head/ears/forelock. But have a handful of kids show up and she drops her head to be smooched and have her ears pulled, nostrils poked, forelock combed… she just eats up those pure, unadulterated adoring vibes. Gives me a cavity just thinking about it.
This lady’s daughter was having a birthday party, thus all the little girls in pink. I was giving hay rides at a local business – the birthday group just happened in by coincidence. The little birthday girl probably would have spent her entire birthday just petting my horse’s head.
