Well I hope this is the right spot to ask this question. I have several large trees that are Mesquite (aka Ironwood) Any real value for A handle?? As right now I have A real nice pc. 6′ long X6″ in dia just setting around. Its cure/dried. I was thinking of trueing it up on the Table saw to about A 4X4X5 , and was hoping I could use it for mattaxe handles.Any thoughts????

I don’t know a lot but I do know if ironwood is dry it is very hard to work with. I have tried to drill some dry ironwood before and gave up. Good luck. If you could work with it you probably wouldn’t ever need another handle again
