Well, the guys are finally big enough and I have enough energy to match step for step. After a too long layoff, bRod and Bright are back under yoke. I cut some thornapple and hitched it to the arch and had them drag the pasture to break up the manure clods. They did very well. They were tired from dragging a tire, so they walked nicely.
Yesterday I finally hitched on the Pequea fluffer/tedder. We got it last year, but they were too small to pull it. I’ve been DYING to see them on it. I was prepared for them to really take off when they saw the reel move behind them, but they never flinched. Bright really wanted MOVE with it. bRod likes to lag.
I’ll have to really get working on driving from behind, as that field gets awful big when you’re combing it on foot.
Next weekend is the local plowday. The guys have been after me to bring the cattle – it’s mostly a horse crowd. The steers can’t plow(yet) but they could step around and impress everybody.
I love these guys. We have good times together.

Sounds really good – do we have pictures of this tedder? Will you ‘bling’ tem up for the show? 😉

Oh, yes, they’re already being curried to get the winter coat out. Tail switches are under construction – Bright LOVES to get into the burdocks. He’s a lunkhead, sometimes.
