I think it will be Hummers fueled by bio-diesel that is made from soylent green, imported from India/China and made from the masses…
Was it 50 or 55 when it was the end of the road??
March 28, 2010 at 5:28 pm #59123Big HorsesParticipantBe nice to the Hummer owners….we’re not all yuppies!:D My wife bought an H3 (the small one) a year ago, and I gotta say, that’s the nicest handling rig and the most suprising thing I’ve ever driven!
JHMarch 28, 2010 at 6:09 pm #59119Joshua KingsleyParticipantSo how is the ride in the GMC Envoy in hummer clothing? The H2 was built on the Youkon platform, with the only “true” hummer on it’s own base frame. At least that is what I was old by my friend who works on them all at a dealership.
I still like the one drawn by the horses the best. Cheep to run with plenty of power 😉 If ya ever get stuck you just need to add another team.
JoshuaMarch 29, 2010 at 4:38 am #59127Stable-ManParticipantThe H1 and 2 will become scrap. Even if we have alternative fuel, I doubt it will be cheap enough for the amount of driving most people do. The guy took a gamble on it but turned out an interesting product.

JohnThe future elite will have their wealth measured in cubic yards. As in My manure compost pile is 4500 cubic yards.:D

March 29, 2010 at 1:21 pm #59116MarshallParticipantI have to agree with you Tim.
March 29, 2010 at 2:07 pm #59129jacParticipantWell Carl Im pretty wealthy after all then.. Im glad not measuring my wealth in $$$$ or £££££.. If more folks reasoned that way perhaps the planet wouldnt be in the mess she’s in now…
Good point there Tim . Totaly agree
JohnMarch 29, 2010 at 3:56 pm #59124Big HorsesParticipantOur H3 is a really nice riding rig. It handles better in the wind and on a slick road than anything I’ve driven in a long time. We grab about 20+ mpg average. Not bad for a rig that looks as boxy as that does. The comfort level is really high, and it’s very quiet inside. It’s got an inline 5 cyl engine, that always suprises me with the power it makes. When she compared it to anything else in it’s class, it was a bunch less expensive……so out of touch or elite??? I don’t quite agree…;) Alot of people that own them, or any other 4×4, never get off the road or out of town, so the “image” that gets portrayed isn’t that great, but ours seldom gets to town. I guess it’s like anything else, ya can’t satisfy everyone.
JHMarch 29, 2010 at 4:39 pm #59115J-LParticipantIt amazes me when I go to SLC how many big 4 wheel drive vehicles you see. Lot’s of big diesel pickups and big SUV’s. In this part of the country we call the Suburban type vehicles BMW’s. This stands for Big Mormon Wagon. Usually full of kids in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.
My wife has one of these BMW’s. Drives it to work when the roads are bad. We live about 3/4 mile off the highway and sometimes it’s all you can do to get a 4wd vehicle out to the highway.
I think in a post oil world the elite will those who can produce more food than they need and sell/trade the surplus. If they’re smart they’ll be driving mules!March 29, 2010 at 8:03 pm #59122Tim HarriganParticipantMust be a regional thing. I my part of the world they are called SAV’s, suburban assault vehicles. You mostly see them parked near where you want to go and taking up 2 parking places.
March 29, 2010 at 8:10 pm #59130jacParticipantThis side of the pond we call them Chelsea Tractors …..Chelsea is a suburb of London… and most never see mud..
