Isnt it just typical that now that the planes are flying again that there is little or no mention of Iceland in the news !!??!!…We should spare a thought for the people of Iceland and in particular the farmers in that region. Spring grass wasted and winter fodder used up.. not a good combination.. Kinda puts a lot of things into focus..

I had never before thought about it that much but when they mentioned beans from spain and several other vegetables and fruits that I hadn’t considered THAT exotical I started thinking and I’ll pay more attention when buying fruits, etc.

I hate to admit it but same with me. I guess my perspective is slightly different than thinking about the hay aspect that John mentioned. That must be awful. I hate this time of year if my local hay suppliers dry up and I just have to search a little larger radius to find someone with hay that I can buy to get me into June. Another country though. It must really hit hard. We are fortunate.April 28, 2010 at 11:50 pm #59629clayfoot-sandymanParticipantIt’s good to show appreciation for our blessings.
Did you here about Mongolia this winter? After a prolonged drought last summer, they’ve had the coldest winter on record, and have lost an estimated four and half million sheep, goats, horses and cattle. And whilst I’m preparing my haying equipment, they’re still in it with winter only ending in mid-May over there.
