i am looking for someone to thin a portion of my woods in schroon lake. It is the lower portion of the property which consists of primarily cedar, hemlock, maple, birch and ash. I believe it to be accessible but the problem is it’s wet and I don’t know if it is really a job for horses. I would love to speak with someone about this possibility as you guys are the one’s who would know if it is possible or not. I’m not real fond of machinery but realize that may be my only option. I am working my property as a tree farm cutting out firewood to thin the maples for syrup production in the future. This particular area I cannot do myself because I use an atv. Point of information though, I follow this site quite often and plan on using horses myself one day. I wholeheartedly believe in the work you guys do. Thanks. Mike

    Michael-
Sorry to say that I am booked solid for the foreseeable future with woods work with my team. Unfortunately, there just are not enough insured horse loggers in northern New England to meet the need in terms of forestry work…good luck and keep looking!

Yeah thanks anyway. There are 2 loggers each an hour away in opposite directions I will call when I get a chance. There was a fellow here in town but as far as I know he doesn’t do much more than drink beer anymore. Maybe I’ll do it myself! Thanks for the response anyway and good to hear you’re busy!
