I used to farm next door to these guys and would peer over the hedge in amazement when they’d be out in the fields with their oxen – it was the first time I ever saw working cattle, but it got me interested enough to have a go myself!
This short film gives quite an interesting insight into their work with cattle.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2JcPWEJIuI&feature=related
You can see on this that they harness through a nose ring – isn’t it much more painful for the animal than an occasional whack with the goad? What’s the advantage? Anyone know?
