So when I first got out of high school I couldn’t get away from the home town fast enough…now something like twenty years later I find myself back on the family farm trying to make it work..you don’t know what you have until you leave it i guess….the home place sold years ago so there’s just bare land…
My partner and I are interested in small scale, local, organic agriculture and direct marketing. We’re interested in pasture farming, rotational grazing, swath or bale grazing too if we need to….daydreaming a bit about heritage dried beans and heritage variety wheat ground to flour. We’d like to do as much of the work as possible with horses.
I’ve worked a fair bit starting colts (light horses) and am on my way to becoming a farrier…but no draft or equipment driving experience. Big Learning Curve. No team yet…the one I drive in my head seems to usually be Belgian but i’m open minded. Hoping to learn lots here and meet some community…
Setting up electric fence by the slough tonight and the dog and I were nearly eaten alive by mosquitoes…
cheers,
