I am in search of an apprentice interested in learning to use horses in the woods and for fieldwork. We are a small farm operation utilizing a pair of geldings for our own firewood procurement as well as commercial logging off the property. Also, we are gathering field equipment for plowing, spreading manure, harrowing, and clipping pasture.

I am a farmer with significant teaching experience, as I managed a 25-acre educational farm in Maine before coming over to VT on our own land. Candidates should be ready for a lot of work and eager to gain skills that they can put to use after they leave us. We do not have winter housing available so for the colder months our apprentice must be close enough to drive to us on a regular basis. During the warmer months on-site arrangements may be possible. No previous experience is needed, though work with farm animals is a plus. In addition to the horses, we raise and sell pasture fed chicken (broilers and layers), turkey, lamb, beef, and pork. Our apprentice can expect to be involved in all aspects of this small, diversified operation. From time to time, the apprentice will be on their own for chores here at the farm. This apprenticeship is not a paid position but candidates can expect to go away with a skill set enabling them to continue working with horses on a small farm operation. In addition to my own teaching, our apprentice will have access to other, like-minded horse farmers in central VT as we work together in the woods and fields. We are located in Randolph Center, VT. For more details call Brad at 802-345-7488 or see alltogetherfarm.com.
