This winter’s project . . . Rick Lewis (Ike’s new teammate) designed and built the stock, based on photographs and his own ingenuity.
Now we’re training the boys to quietly walk in, get comfortable, then quietly back out. In the next few days we’ll attach the belly band.
Does anyone have photos of other stocks? Suggestions about their best use? Design flaws they’ve experienced?
Thanks!

I still wear my Swansey oxen button on my “to go town” coat.

Also, I don’t know much about how you handle ox feet but don’t most horse stocks have a short block anchored to each upright post to allow securing the lower leg and support the hoof? Just asking.

The previous owner had a belly band, we used it a few times, but it broke with one of the animals in it. Not fun. Since then, no belly band. they just stand on three feet while one gets trimmed. (Hoof trimmer said they get too confident with the bellyband and put all their weight on it). So far, so good without it. The hoof trimmer brings a little foot stool to rest their hoof on while it gets trimmed. It’s different than a horse stock. Hope this helps a little. Robin
