I have posted photos from this event in the past. It’s a fall-in gang style plowing bee rather than a judged competition. Plenty of room in all directions out in that country, so they get some nice big hitches hooked up. I believe I recall that there was a 12 of Percheron mules year-before-last. Bad conditions in the pass kept me from going last year. Fingers crossed that I can make it this year, but probably only as a spectator. My horse van is a gas hog. I do believe I’ll have to win the Lotto in order to ever afford gas to haul my horses to Wilson Creek, which will be tough, seeing as how I don’t play the lottery.

This is from our state’s draft club newsletter:

“Draft Horse and Mule Plowing Days – the Wilson Creek Tradition
    March 26 & 27

Got an email from the folks over at Wilson Creek regarding their annual plowing event. Here’s what Katrina Walker had to say:

“As in previous years, the Plowing Days is a somewhat free form event, with teams entering the field at will, usually by 9:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. They break for lunch (available for purchase from the Wilson Creek FFA – always a great meal and a highlight of the event!), and then get back out into the field around 1pm and work until they decide to quit, usually around 4 or 5 pm. Sunday afternoon there are fewer teams, as the field sometimes is nearly completely worked and many of the teams have a long drive home.”

The event takes place March 26-27 in Wilson Creek. For more information, contact Todd Bohnet at 509-345-0211 or email info@plowingdays.org

    Hi Jenny,

I’ve got a few more pics from this year’s event at Wilson Creek I could add but posted the one’s I thought folks might find most interesting. Many were taken from the seat of the plow at rest breaks – so distance is an issue.
