Well it has been a slow process due to too many things going on but we took Molly out for the second time since I got her from the rescue last summer. The first time I hooked her with another haflinger to a disc with no tongue. That was a disaster. As soon as I told them to go she just started kicking and made the other one nervous. We didn’t make any progress that day. Today I had an Amish friend bring over one of his belgians. When we hooked them to a wagon she kicked at the tongue three times. On the third time we found the weak spot with the knot. So an hour later after getting an new tongue and putting it on the wagon we were set to go again. It was a little exciting for the first few minutes but we got them in a 40 acre field with about a foot and a half of snow and drove them about a half mile. After that we went on the road and went another four and a half miles. By the time we got back she was behaving a lot better. She has a long ways to go but I think she will make it. She is doing very well for a horse that two “professional ” trainers said was beyond saving and should be put down.

Marshall, you sure can’t beat those amish for breaking a horse to drive can you? Here is a 4 year old imported Haflinger stud after 10 days of my amish friend’s training. 5 days double and 5 days single. Me driving of course as he couldn’t do pictures.

He very seldom uses a whip and when he does he doesn’t pound on the horse with it. Molly needs a lot of work to be as good as what your horse is but I think she will make it. She has a problem with the tongue being beside her. I don’t know what happened to her in the past but she is making progress. I am thinking of taking her to someone that can work her a few times a week for the summer. I probably won’t be able to safely handler her for a long time after my knee surgery.

Be nice if you could find someone like him or an amish that would take him for the summer and use him for things like raking hay. Good luck with her!!
