pretty much finished with my bobsled, I need to bend the evener hook forward a little on the roll, put my peavey and binder holders on, and get chain and go to the forge to make my flat tightener hooks (what are those called?) Is 15 feet a good length for the bunk chains? I can’t remember what Carl said his were. I am just glad to have it ready. It took a lot of time and cursing. The holes on the old iron never matched up, every hole was a different size. Can you guys see any thing that needs to be changed up?
March 23, 2011 at 12:20 am #66430Andy CarsonModeratorLooks very pretty! The only thing I see is that it looks like your doubletree might catch on one those nuts holding down the flat steel (securing the pole) if one horse moves ahead of the other much. Pretty minor thing… I love sleds!
March 23, 2011 at 1:40 am #66428bradleyModeratorThanks Andy, tomorrow I am going to drive the carriage bolts through from the top like I should have done in the first place and also move the doubletree forward a bit. Can’t wait to get it out in the woods, I already have a brow loaded and waiting.

I’m not sure that it is critical, but the riser irons on my sled are on the other direction.
It looks like it should do the job really well. I want to see picks with logs on board.

Did you make the hardware as well?
March 23, 2011 at 9:34 pm #66426J-LParticipantWow, looks very stout. Ought to work great. I agree with you on moving your evener ahead some.
Nice job.March 24, 2011 at 1:23 pm #66427TaylorJohnsonParticipantNice work , looking forward to the logging pics. Taylor Johnson
March 26, 2011 at 7:10 pm #66429bradleyModeratorThanks for all your comments. As soon as we get back from the Dixie Draft horse and Mule sale I’ll load it up. I bought a forecart for 125 dollars, a Badger made in Wisconsin. I never heard of it before. It’s pretty old but I think I got a pretty good deal.
