Hello All,
Our team from Flintlock Farm in Still River, Massachusetts looks forward to particpating in the DAP network. We are currently launching a new non-profit 501c3, The Lost Arts Collaborative. This organization focuses on preserving and protecting lost and endangered arts that are associated with colonial New England’s plantations. So areas of knowledge, skills, and practices pertaining to lost arts in areas of farming and ranching, artisanal products, crafts, and traditions. Thus DAPnet is of extreme interest to us. We look forward to providing a venue for you to demonstrate your “art” and educating others who want to become apprentices, journeymen, etc. is an exciting proposition. So, too, is the opportunity to educate the general public and school-aged individuals.March 30, 2011 at 12:38 am #66484Andy CarsonModeratorWelcome Phil,
Your lost arts collaborative reminds me a little of a visit I made last year to colonial Williamsburg, VA. Yeah, I know it’s not New England, but it was still very interesting to see traditional techniques in practice. Many of the specific practices seem very useful even today. The visit inspired me to make a handcart and I am also adopted a door closing system that was used in the barns and on many gates there. Little things, I know, but I still think it is great when we can learn from the past and adapt to modern day problems. Great to have you with us! - AuthorPosts
