I got sick of going to auctions and having to bid against antique dealers on good horse machinery to be used as a lawn ornament. So a couple of winters ago I designed ( the basic cart design was curtiousy of Niel dimmock from Canada)and built a 3 wheel for cart equiped with a hydralic 3-point hitch. Now I can use any catagory 1 equipment or cut down tractor implements. Built from 90% salvaged material ,out of pocket cost around $200.
I have used 2 wheel fore carts for years and they have there place, but the 3 wheeler has some advantages such as no tonge slap or any wieght one the hores neck. Its not real good in the woods but for skiding logs to the landing it works good espeicaly when equiped with a grapple.

Pretty cool. Good idea, and it looks very useful. How is it to back up with the front swivel wheel arrangement? Did you get the hang of it pretty fast? I imagine it would be like a wagon, but with the short wheelbase, it might be a very fine line to keep it straight… I know it spends the majority of the time going forward anyway, I am just curious…

Nice job… Do you find yourself having to ration your hydraulic use during the day or does that battery handle a fair number of ups and downs?

Andy backing up is not much of a problem whith a single or team as the front wheel is steerable, but near impossible when set up for three. If you would use shafts on the middle horse would solve the problem.

As far as battery rationing hasn’t been much of a problem as I used a big deepcell battery. Could be more of a problem if picking up on each end of the field. I have concidered putting on a solor charging system but really havn’t needed it yet. wouldn’t hurt to have a backup battery handy though if you are busy.
