Finally, I think I have my new team set-up for success. I’ve been working them since March and it seems like every time we hitch I fiddle with some line or trace adjustment. Then the sliding buckle puzzle had to be fixed. I added drop rings (spreaders) last month and put them in every configuration I could think of before being satisfied. Every trip out, I thought…its not right yet. Just last week, I realized the snaps to Ripples jockey stick were on backwards (harness came that way), when he snagged a line in one.
Well yesterday, everything seemed to work:o….finally. I post this, as encouragement to new teamsters. There are some things your mentor will (and should) let you figure out on your own. And there is alot to learn about how things work, by having to sort them out in real situations.

I do find it helps me to have a different set of eyes looking over my setup and asking why is it this way. I don’t think I will ever be over fiddling with the little stuff.
Now get out there and enjoy your team!

Sometimes when I question myself I just take the pressure to “hitch and go” off. I will simply harnessing to the point of the problem and resolving the issue in my own way through adjustment measurement etc. It works out well for me since I am generally on my own away from any interested or knowledgeable people. Once it gets resolved you can easily find the proper configuration again. A word of caution for what it is worth. I don’t change too many things at the same time, realizing that too many changes at the same time are harder to keep track of and easier to effect things that I already worked out.
