I’ve been looking for a grain drill to use with my team and have been presented with the opportunity to purchase a LaCrosse drill with both grass and grain boxes, double disc openers, affordable, in my region and in good shape. So, my concern/question is how wide of a drill is it reasonable to expect a pair of horses to pull? Likely never seeding more than 7-10 acres. The drill is 8’4″ wide (grain box). Is that too big? Can’t I just not load it up completely?
Some guys I know swear you can only run a 6′ drill with a team while others claim that 8 or even 10 is possible.
What do you all think?
PS – If we’ve gone over this before, remind me. My mind is going:confused:
