at 2.11 -2.30 they show how they bend the horn after having heated the tip with boiling water; any idea how long that takes?
July 11, 2011 at 12:40 am #68280Tim HarriganParticipantElke, I don’t know, but if you could find some horns that are no longer attached to their owners you could try it out and practice a bit. I am sure long, thin horns would bend easier than shorter, thicker horns. Good luck with that.

positively, that is also what they do; I imagine besides that, the closer you work on the head the more you risk burning parts you don’t want to

After the steam softened the shell, it was bent. Sorry, I haven’t seen the video yet–computer slowness.

This method is for bending the outer tip of the horn as seen on the Film Board of Canada video that was made here. You don’t want to use too much heat as this may make the horn brittle, not to mention hot.
