Three years ago I purchased a team of ten year old haflingers. I was relatively new to working with draft animals. They have always responded well to any task asked of them. When I first pulled logs with them it was evident they had never pulled logs. However, they were so well trained that they literally waited for me to figure out what I was doing. The first time I had them hitched to the manure spreader they were a little nervous when the beaters started but quickly calmed down and responded to my commands. I think they would stand all day, in harness, while I am doing what ever needs to be completed. A neighbor asked me who taught me to work with draft animals and I responded that these two horses taught me how to do this.

My point in this post is to thank the person who trained these animals. I have no idea who trained them, but I have commented many times about the skill of this teamster/trainer. For all of you that have this skill and train horses and sell them I want you to know that you are appreciated. Working with these well trained horses has made this endeavor a tremendous adventure.

    Thank you.

hmm, I think it’s also a skill to keep them trained that way and ensure their further education
yes, I ‘ve got to admit, I learn something new from them every day as well
