    In America, at least around here (Pa) when folks come to the end of the furrow, we generally throw the plow down on the moldboard side and let it slide around “on its face” to the beginning of the next furrow, where we stand it up again.
    A friend in Scotland who does a fair bit of competition plowing says that in the UK he hasn’t seen this done, instead, the plowman steers the plow up out of the ground and puts it back on its heel, and balances it there while the horses skid it around to the next furrow. He was wondering how they handle the headland in Canada and I suggested posting the question on this forum.

    We throw the plow down on the head lands here in Canada also.

    Could be a difference in plow types used. Find out if the friend in Scotland is talking about a plow with wheels. Not a riding plow, but a plow with kind of “training wheels” up at the front.
