    Happy New Year Everyone!

We just wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to become a member of our Draft Animal Power Network (DAPNet). DAPNet is a new organization going into its second year of functioning as the charge of this online forum http://www.draftanimalpower.com (DAP.com), Northeast Animal Power Field Days (NEAPFD), our main website http://www.draftanimalpowernetwork.org, newsletters, eNews, and various small draft animal events in the Northeastern United States.

To those of you that don’t know who we are please take the time to visit http://www.draftanimalpowernetwork.org, and if you would like to be kept up to date with our happenings sign-up for our eNews as well. DAPNet is a non-profit educational organization working toward a 501(c)3 status, in the mean time our generous fiscal sponsor is Rural Vermont. Our mission is “Advancing the use of draft animals and promoting sustainable land stewardship by providing resource connections and shared learning opportunities while building community.” We rely on memberships, advertising, sponsorships, donations and grants to fund all of these opportunities and resources that we provide.

If you are a registered member of our DAP.com forum we urge you to help us cover the cost of maintaining this valuable resource by becoming a member of DAPNet or making a donation. There are several benefits of becoming a member.

    1. Discounted gate fee to the Northeast Animal-Power Field Days and other events.
    2. Newsletters which keep everyone connected, and include resource contacts, articles of interest, calendar events, and more.
    3. Access to this DAP.com Forum.
    4. Free classifieds in the DAPNet newsletters and on DAP.com.
    5. Access to the DAPNet website, which provides Calendar Events, Classifieds, Links to like-minded organizations, a Web Business Directory, a Library of technical articles, a Photo Gallery, and more.
    6. Enhanced connections within the broader community of interest.
    7. A voice in the organization: one member = one vote.

We realize that you have access to some of these benefits already, in our effort to keep DAP.com a service free of charge, we hope you are able to support our effort on a volunteer basis.

You can become a member or make a donation online by visiting our website and both downloading the form and sending it with a check or by using our online PayPal feature. There are various levels of membership and we encourage you to join at a level that reflects the value that you get from this wonderful online community. We truly rely on the generosity of knowledge and funds within the draft animal community to continue this successful network of resources and connections.

For those of you in the Northeastern US or those of you planning on traveling this way, we are planning some great small events on specific topics like plowing, working a single horse, and oxen. Keep an eye out for more information on these events or sign-up for our DAPNet eNews for up to date information.

Thanks all for being an important part of our worldwide draft animal community,

    Erika Marczak

Dates for the events planned would be good. I know there is something in Sept. I already have a conflict with that.
If anyone is interested in joining the Hudson Valley Draft Horse Assoc. for a spring plow April 28, Accord, NY. Please let me know.
Don’t be fooled by the name of the group……it’s not all horses. Everyone is welcome, with or without livestock.
This site is great. Keep up the good work.
    Regards,
    Robin
