I really enjoy the almost world wide posts of the members on this site. There are several of you whom I marvel at your comments, keeping in mind I’m a day here, day there, weekend horseman. You couldn’t pay and get this kind of advice. Or debate. Or as in the case of headless chicken a “who done it” that kind of humour.
I bought a place, and not a month later 5 Belgium horses arrived as they needed a place to go. One day working in the round pen the voice behind me said, ” You don’t know much about horses do you. Here let me help or you’ll get stomped”. And that was the start of a beautiful friendship. As neighbors we’ve raised cattle and horses together since 1988. We use our horses for haying mostly. We went to a pull or two but not that fond of it.
Originally a New Englander myself came to Oklahoma loved the weather and the people and just sat down here and stayed. Plus I wanted an acreage I could one day retire on and see if I’d gotten any better at growing vegtables. I don’t know why but I am absolutely the worst you’ve ever met. And the kicker is with every year the neighbor and little lady tell me “I’ve out done last year’s disaster!”
I do miss the New England way of life, the people, Ipswich clams, the woods, black flies, brook trout and the great trekking the Aligash in Maine. Now the only time I get back is to see the High School crowd I ran with or for business.

The easterners are allowing me to post and are answering my questions. I lived on the east coast for a year in Rhode Island, thanks to the US Navy. I do hope that you feel as welcome as I.
