After some trial and error this winter I have finally settled on a means of feeding round bales with my team. I constructed a 4x4foot skid with 4×6 runners and two cross members. I place the skid verticaly up against the round bale and strap the skid to the bale then using a chain with a hook use the team, or a single horse, to tip the bale down on to the skid. After hauling the bales to the pasture I use a hook and chain to tip the bale up right off the skid and place a feeder around the bale. I started out placing the skid next to the bale and tipping the bale onto the skid but stapping the skid to the bale and tipping the whole unit over together works a lot better for me.

I tried to attach a couple of photos but apparently the file size is to large. With my very limited computure skills a am not sure if there is a solution.

    Second try on photos
