We are headed to Mt. Pleasant ,MI for the Yoder Bros. spring horse sale today. Draft horses , all purpose, and a good run of drivers will sell (150 head would be a good guess). Tackand stuff in anouther building. Work horses have been strong at the bigger spring sales. Will report back after this local amish sale and report some result and which pie was the best.

I had some Amish friends ask me to take them to that sale but have too much farm work right now. I usually try to make it so I will be curious to see some results.

No list of prices but I thought teams and singles of back to the farm work horses we mostly on the soft side. They were not by any means giving them away, but for example, a big stout pair of belgian mares, brought $1900 and $1700. 12+/- years old, right of the farm, little amish kid on the back of each mare. I had expected them to be higher. I spent to much time talking (me and a bunch of amish boys from Blanchard converted an entire cherry pie into an empty pie tin) to get a list but I thought they were soft. Some nice horses, some junk. Lots of good drivers or well started 2YO to the 20 YO gelding the kids had been driving to school. He looked good and brought around $500.

I wonder if the great Michigan economy is catching up with the horse prices. With the sale commision and the cost of trucking It must have some affect. I thought about sending a haflinger mare but for what she is I probably would have ended up paying to get rid of her. Hopefully I will be able to make the fall sale. Did they have the spring machinery sale yet? I should send a few pieces and make some shed room.

Machinery sale went a couple of weeks ago. They have an ad in the book for the Horse progress days.
