Hi,
I am very interested in learning to work draft animals. I worked on a couple of harvest crews and had an internship this summer on organic CSA farms. After learning to use tractors I really wanted to see the idea of sustainability taken a step further and use draft animals instead. I recently moved to Monmouth, ME. I am looking for either learning opportunities or work. I am willing for the work to be logging with draft animals, as opposed to farming, as it is something I am also interested in and I imagine some of the skills could transfer back to farming. My main limitation is that the opportunity would have to be near where I live now. Thanks!September 27, 2012 at 5:06 pm #75086mitchmaineParticipanthello there and welcome,
i don’t know if you are familiar with maine organic farmers and gardeners assn. up in unity, me. or their low impact forestry program, which has a field day/weekend coming up in november? it is a great place to network with pro and farmer loggers and swap tales, work horses, and bulls*#t. its a great weekend. give it a try.

Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with MOFGA, I went to the Commonground fair last weekend and saw some of the low impact forestry talks, though I should have tried to network more. I think I will try to go to that weekend, thanks. - AuthorPosts
