Since my saw got lost in the fire I have a chance to upgrade a bit and have been leaning towards a Husky 372 XP. Any new or different information regarding this saw or one’s like it? Opinions welcomed.

Start/stop switch, easy fix but it cost me a morning going to get one, It was revving too high so I took it to the shop twice they said it was fine then it blew up. They rebuilt it for the cost of the parts. So I won’t blame the shop. Then a couple weeks ago the muffler let go. Another cheap fix but it cost me a days work. I used to run Stihls and will again when I buy the next one.
One thing I learned from talking to loggers is everybody buys the saw the dealer they like sells. Get one from the closest, most convenient place if you ask me. Luckily for me the place has Husky and Stihl. I know a few guys who really like the Dolmar 7900 as well.

Certainly the more power the more money, there are some deals on both. Everybody will have there preference and all will have a story on there own experiences good and bad, making your choice always difficult. Sometimes I find myself over analizing. Price, cc, weight, usage, dealer, are all thing to consider. Myself have got a Husky 257 which now are 357 good saw 372 more power good saw also just bought a stihl 260 for my son in law which are 261 now, good saw too, if he wouldn’t have bought it I would have, 5 year old saw well maintained knew the dealer that maintained it. A saw can take a beating in all conditions but you have to do your maintenance daily, weekly…. I myself am not always consistent on my maintenance, can be hard on a saw. My big 2 cents. Hope this helps a bit.

Having used Stihl and Huskies for a number of years, I bought a red saw last year – Jons 2172. They had a swap and save deal, and the price was right. Having cut quite a bit of wood with it, I highly recommend it. I still have a Husky 357, but hardly ever use it nowexcept at the landing. The clutch design on the Jons is better, with no special tool to take it apart, the parts are cheaper, and it is super durable so far. It has plenty of power, but the turbo really screams, so wear your ear protection. The 357 I have has been a bot of a lemon, so maybe that is clouding my thoughts, but I really like the Jonsered.

I thought husky and Johnsered were made by the same company as long as you buy the commercial saw it is the same as a Johnsered they have a chromoly piston and rev higher. I need a saw that is falling limb proof. Eli
