February 8, 2013 at 1:58 am #77325JayParticipantOur ground is mostly bare now so I’m not unhappy with the prospect of some “poor man’s fertilizer” covering it up (makes for better sleigh rides too). This is the time of year for it. If there is enough so they don’t sand to roads for a while I might head into town with a team…. Jay
February 8, 2013 at 2:05 am #77328EliParticipantWe have snow but I also will take all I can get we need the moisture. Good luck on getting to town with your team sounds like fun. Eli
February 8, 2013 at 3:04 am #77316dominiquer60ModeratorWe are looking a Blizzard Warning in the face. I just hope that it is cold snow and it blows off the top of the greenhouses easily, otherwise we are ready to tap as soon as the birds come out to sing again:)
February 8, 2013 at 3:22 am #77329EliParticipantWe have been getting wet heavy snow all day about 6 inches. But it’s getting colder out. Hope fully it isn’t to bad. I was just talking to a friend today who wants me to weld up some finishing pans and some type of lid for a vacuum filler I weld stainless steel and make and fix things for some local syrup people from time to time. Anyway good luck and be safe. Eli

I am glad for the snow since we lost all of it a couple weeks ago and I have had to haul water to the sheep since. At least the new snow will make my life a little easier, after the clean-up I mean.

Me too, 😉
Nothing here yet but sprinkles. I took advantage of the snow day from work to do a little more ‘gardening’ in preparation for teh Game of Logging Class. It’ll be nice to have some snow around again.
February 8, 2013 at 8:53 pm #77319Simple LivingParticipantAlthough this storm will will do harm to some, I find it funny to watch the news reports on TV about the coming snowpocalypse. Meanwhile the folks on here are taking it as just another winter day. Stay safe everyone!!

February 9, 2013 at 12:39 am #77317dominiquer60ModeratorThe snowpocalypse part of the storm is a reality for those along the coast that are still rebuilding from super storm Sandy. This Noreaster actually had a storm serge and the worst of the snow and wind is nailing NJ, NYC, Long Island and the CT coast, to these areas it is like reopening a wound they are having a slow time responding and coping with what some reports say could be as much as 40.” To us this is just another snow storm, we are a farm we have milk cows and other animals and have to be prepared for events like this, but those that are not used to relying on themselves or have been hard hit already, this little bit of snow is a big deal.
February 9, 2013 at 1:18 pm #77321Michel BoulayParticipantWe’re getting it now(New-Brunswick) pretty much for the day. Once done will get close to a foot. Nova Scotia will get more. Likewise here we pretty much lost most of it couple of weeks ago made for a lot of ice everywhere and bare fields, so this snow will make it safer to travel on. The high winds are the worst, hope the electricity doesn’t go out. But all in all just an other storm.
Be safe.
MikeFebruary 9, 2013 at 2:48 pm #77314J-LParticipantGovernors ordering people to stay home is just funny to me. Can’t anyone look outside and see what’s going on?
A storm like that out here never even makes the news. For two years in a row we had 24″ plus of snow on April fools day with sub-zero temps along with. Another was 40″ from daylight to 1:00 on the first of May, nobody heard about any of these and the gov’t never had to tell anyone to stay home. What is happening to common sense?
In the end though, I hope everyone weathers the storm in good shape.
