    this is a swedish or norwegian cookery program! can anyone tell me what the logs are being lifted with,it looks like a sky-line but then they’re skidding a long way out after loading(at a gallop!),and theres a running pulley on the cable that does’nt look like a sky-line to me.

    This is a SWISS cookery program. These guys are from the region were the cheese with the big holes comes from.
    These guys are all farmers and do logging only in the winter. Forest is mostly on places where it is not feasible for farming. These woodlots are barely accesible with haevy equipment, especially in the winter, thats why they skid the logs for long distances downhill.
    They probably set up a winch in the summer and use it with pulleys as a crane.

    I have seen pictures of farmers bringing large bundles of loose hay down from high meadows with over head cables. Could this be part of that system?

    I don’t know anything about the cable system nor could I understand the language, but I did understand the camaraderie, the horses, and the food. LOVED IT, thanks for sharing.
