We recently started plowing with a Syracuse sulky plow (the moldboard says “Syracuse D AD166”). Today I noticed one wheel squeaking and realized the hub on that wheel was loose.

I can spin the hub in either direction independently of the wheel (as opposed to the other one with spins with the wheel). However, I can’t seem to screw it off or pull it off, nor can I figure out how to tighten it back on. Anyone have any experience with this type of hub, or and ideas?

Below is a picture of the loose hub and one of the normal hub.

    Thanks!

Turns out that where the hub screws onto the wheel sheered.

Anyone have a spare Syracuse D sulky plow wheel?

    Thanks!

Hi Miriam, Unfortunately the pictures don’t come up. I will pass that on to Daniel as you are not the only one with that problem. I am imagining a grease hub that pushed grease under the wheel as it was turned in? There might be a way to add a grease fitting to the wheel itself and then drill the axle? and put on with heavy washers and bolt or pin. I guess finding a replacement wheel might be the best repair, but something else would also be possible. D
